LADWP is the municipal utility serving the City of Los Angeles — a separate territory from SCE (which covers most of LA County outside city limits). LADWP customers do not qualify for SCE Charge Ready and must use LADWP's own programs.
Charge Up LA! is LADWP's flagship commercial charger rebate. It's structured as a post-install rebate (install first, then claim) and is one of the more straightforward applications of any major utility EV program.
DAC bonuses and additional incentives are available for properties in disadvantaged neighborhoods identified through CalEnviroScreen 4.0 within LA city limits.
Best For
LA City commercial properties · Multifamily housing · Workplaces
Estimated timeline: 4–8 weeks from application to rebate
Verify your property is served by LADWP (not SCE). Most properties within LA city limits are LADWP.
Submit pre-approval through ladwp.com before installing equipment to confirm rebate eligibility and reserve funds.
Choose from LADWP's approved equipment list. Networked chargers are required for rebate eligibility.
Use a licensed electrician familiar with LADWP requirements and inspection process.
LADWP inspects the installation to verify it meets program requirements and safety codes.
Upload paid invoices, commissioning report, and inspection documentation. Rebate paid 4–8 weeks after submission.
LADWP Charge Up LA! is stackable with the federal 30C tax credit and SCAQMD incentives. It is NOT stackable with SCE Charge Ready (different utility territory). LADWP does not currently have a make-ready infrastructure program equivalent to SCE Charge Ready, so site owners typically pay for utility upgrades themselves.
